Dead Animals
Dry Ink

My first freeze-dried sculpture featured two octopus bodies that I bought at a Vancouver fish market.

In my studio, I intertwined their tentacles, froze them on a flat surface and freeze-dried them in a vacuum chamber.

Then I balanced their stiff, lightweight bodies on top of a box of canned octopus meat.

The box of canned meat sat on top of copied pages from an octopus recipe book as well as from a book on how octopuses use their brains to solve problems.
