All of the animals in my sculptures died legally. Some, like the humans, died from natural causes. Others, such as the non-humans, were killed in government-licensed slaughterhouses.

But lots of non-humans are legally killed in other places. For example, I've seen pest-control companies kill rodents in office buildings and I've seen camouflaged-hunters kill deer in the forest. I've also seen veterinarians legally kill family pets in animal hospitals.

By mixing these experiences with performance art, I visited a place that was somewhere between public murder and private massacre.
